Salary revision

The work on the 2025 revision is ongoing. The new salaries will apply from October 1 2025, and if all goes well, they will be paid retroactively with the December salary. This year there are central agreement negotiations, which may delay the revision and postpone the retroactive payment of salaries to take place in 2026 instead.

Local negotiation or salary-setting discussions?

Most Saco-S members at Uppsala University are covered by local union negotiations, which are prepared through salary dialogue. Only the Saco-S members at the University Administration, Internal Audit and the University Library has salary-setting discussions instead.

 

The new salaries for the 2024 salary revision came into effect on October 1 2024, which means that those who received a higher salary received a retroactive payment from that date.

If you had benefits from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency (Swedish: Försäkringskassan) during 2024 and was part of the 2024 year's salary revision, it is important that you have notified them of your new salary. In order for retroactive salary to be paid for days when parental benefit was withdrawn from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, documentation proving the withdrawal must be submitted to HR/Payroll unit. The deadline for submitting documentation is September 5 2025.

Numberless agreement

Saco-S's agreement is actually numberless, but the departments at the University have of course been given numbers to stick to. The University has made it more clear lately that it is the salary after the revision that is in focus and not the increase itself. It's about getting the right salary, not about the increase in percent. This means that if two employees have approximately equal work tasks and approximately equivalent performance, then the salary should also be approximately equal. This in turn may mean that if one had a lower salary before the revision, that one may receive a higher increase than the one who had a higher salary before the revision. Sometimes when there are large salary differences, the adjustments can take more than one salary revision to come to terms with.

The doctoral student salaries

The doctoral students have a salary ladder and it is revised in a special order. It is usually revised as of October 1, just as with other salaries at the University. This year's doctoral student ladder is not yet negotiated.

Negotiation form

Saco-S at Uppsala University sends out negotiation forms at the beginning of September for members to fill in and send back to us. We use the form to propose a new salary for you and to argue for the salary we have proposed. The deadline for sending in the form i September 26, 2025.

Please note that doctoral students and those who have salary-setting dialogues do not need to send us a form.

Salary seminars

Saco-S at Uppsala University usually holds salary seminars in both Swedish and English. The purpose of these is to explain the salary revision process and answer your questions. This year we have three salary seminars planned that will be held through Zoom. Two of them are in Swedish and one of them is in English.
