Elected representatives in various bodies
The elected representatives sit with the right to attend and speak in various committees and boards, primarily with the support of the Employment (Co-determination in the Workplace) Act (MBL) Section 19. According to this section, the University is obliged to regularly inform the Saco‑S Association about “how the operations are developing in terms of production and finances, as well as the guidelines for personnel policy.”
In addition, the elected representatives must be able to take part of the preparatory work and have the same information as the employer before decisions that affect the employees in any way are made.
- The elected representatives do not participate in the decisions, and the decisions are also not classified as negotiated just because an elected representative attended the meeting.
- If an elected representative believes that something should be negotiated before making a decision, they need to contact the Saco‑S Association’s board.
- If the University decides on a matter that should have been negotiated, then the University is guilty of violating MBL.
