Statutes for the Saco-S Association at Uppsala University

(adopted at the ordinary annual meeting 2019-11-26, revised at the ordinary annual meeting 2021-11-23)

§ 1
The Saco-S Association at Uppsala University is part of the negotiating organization Saco-S and is its local employee organization at Uppsala University and represents the employees of the government body who are members of a union affiliated with Saco-S, unless the Saco-S Association's Board decides on an exception. The tasks and rules of the local operation on how to conduct it are decided on Saco-S's annual meeting and by the Board.

§ 2
Members' meetings are to be held annually by April at the latest. Extra members' meetings are held when the Board finds it appropriate or when at least a tenth of the union members at the workplace request it in writing.

§ 3
At an ordinary member's meeting, the members of the independent Saco unions decide on the following:

  • Approval of the Board's activity report
  • Election of chairperson, vice chairperson and board members
  • Election of substitute members of the Board
  • Delegation to the Board, if necessary, to appoint representatives of the Association in certain bodies
  • Election of the nominating committee and convener in this meeting
  • Propositions and motions (if applicable)
  • Other questions reported before the meeting

At an extra members' meeting, the above issues for which the meeting was convened for is addressed.

Voting rights at ordinary members' meetings and extra members' meetings may only be exercised in person. Unless otherwise provided in these statutes, decisions are made by a simple majority of the votes cast.

In the case of an equal number of votes, the sitting chairperson has a casting vote, except in elections with a closed ballot, when the draw differs. Elections will be conducted by closed ballot if more people are proposed than to be elected and if someone with voting rights so requests.

Prior to the ordinary members' meeting, independent Saco union members may submit motions to the board no later than 45 calendar days prior to the ordinary annual meeting.

§ 4
The Board consists of the chairperson and at least 6 and a maximum of 8 other members. There should be a maximum of 2 substitutes for the members in the Board.

§ 5
The Board meets at the invitation of the chairperson or if at least half the number of members so requests.

The Board can make decisions when at least half the number of its members or substitutes are present.

§ 6
The task of the nomination committee is to prepare the election of the Board and of such representatives to be appointed by the ordinary members' meeting in accordance with § 3.

The nomination committee consists of at least three members, one of whom is the convener.
