Webinar – Language flexibility for a more inclusive workplace
On January 10, 2025 Saco-S at Uppsala University held a webinar on recent research on language policies at Swedish universities.
The webinar took as its starting point the recently published peer-reviewed article “Facilitating or compromising inclusion? Language policies at Swedish higher education institutions as workplaces” by applied linguists Hyeseung Jeong and Stephanie Lindemann.
The seminar opened with a presentation by co-author Stephanie Lindemann, Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics, Georgia State University, USA, who summarized the study’s methods and conclusions on how language policies and practices can affect academic work environments. This was followed by a discussion of strategies for creating a more inclusive multilingual workplace.
