Local collective agreement on teaching for researchers at Uppsala University
The following is an unofficial translation of the agreement from Swedish.
Section 1
This agreement is concluded with the support of Villkorsavtal chapter 2, section 2.
Section 2
The agreement means that the parties agree that there is an opportunity for the employer, after consultation with employees who works as a researcher, to decide that the employee should carry out teaching as a work task.
Section 3
Teaching may be carried out up to a maximum of 20 % of the working hours per academic year for each employee.
Section 4
Teaching must normally take place within regular working hours.
Section 5
When determining the extent of the teaching volume for the individual researcher, consideration must be given to pre- and post-work, the degree of difficulty and level of the course, the nature of the teaching and the subject, the structure and method of the teaching, as well as the researcher's competence and experience in teaching in the field. The starting point should normally be that a teaching hour (Swedish: lektorstimme), including pre- and post-work, should comprise of four clock hours. For teaching that does not require extensive pre- and post-work, a lower conversion factor can be applied.
Section 6
No later than two weeks before the start of the course, the researcher should be informed about how the teaching is arranged.
Section 7
This agreement applies from on January 1 2023 until further notice. A mutual notice period of three months applies.
