Doctoral student salary ladder 2011

This doctoral student salary ladder is valid from 2011-10-01.

Year 1: SEK 22 400
Year 2: SEK 23 300
Year 3: SEK 23 900

50 %: SEK 25 000
80 %: SEK 26 400

The meaning of "year" is a completed year as a doctoral student/assistant with doctoral grants or in other active research studies in postgraduate level of education (third-cycle) according to an assessment made by the head of department.

The salary is adjusted upwards at the end of the calendar month without a special decision.

The percentages refer to the number of percent of the requirements for the doctoral degree that must have been achieved. The head of department makes a decision after consulting with the supervisor. Normally, 50 % and 80 %, respectively, of the requirements for the doctoral degree must be met after 24 and 38 months of full-time studies, respectively. Deviations from this must be specifically justified.

A salary supplement of SEK 3 500 shall be paid to doctoral students/equivalent with a medical degree (Swedish: läkarexamen).

A salary supplement of SEK 5 500 shall be paid to doctoral students/equivalent who are registered doctors (Swedish: legitimerad läkare).

Fixed salary supplement for doctoral students

To create better conditions for recruiting and retaining doctoral students, a fixed salary supplement in the interval of SEK 1 000 - SEK 6 000 (calculated on full-time employment) can be paid to doctoral students/equivalent in market vulnerable business areas. The supplement must be applied on a standard basis within an entire filed or within an entire business, not as an individual salary placement to reward particularly good performance.

Salary supplements higher than SEK 6 000 can be paid if there are special reasons and after consultation with the wage manager, head of the unit for employer issues or human resources director at the human resources department.
