Salary supplements for director etc.

Director

A director (The appointment as director of centres and other units with a board is regulated in UFV 2020/716. Rules for the facilities managers' organization at Uppsala University and the director's duties can be found in UFV 2007/748.) with responsibility for research and education activities which have no head of department, and for certain campuses and research centres normally receive a salary supplement of 50 % of the salary supplement listed in table 2 below. In some cases, a higher salary supplement can be obtained, whereby an assessment is made of the scope and complexity of the appointment. In some cases, a lower salary supplement can also be obtained if the manager has no or only limited personnel responsibility.

When a director's appointment is deemed to be of a scope comparable with that of a head of department, a salary supplement of the full amount listed in table 2 is approved. In exceptional cases such as this, a salary review is conducted when the appointment as director terminates and, normally, part of the salary supplement becomes a part of the employee's regular salary.

Conversion of salary supplement to salary (normally) depending on duration of appointment:

  • At least three years: 25 %
  • At least six years: 50 %

Agreement on other conditions for such an appointment must take place in connection with the assumption of the appointment.

Deputy Directors do not normally receive a salary supplement.

In exceptional cases, an employee who has been appointed a deputy director in a business, where the director appointment has been deemed equivalent to a Head of Department, may receive a salary supplement of no more than 50 % of the salary supplement decided for the director. After the appointment has been termintated, there is no conversion of the salary supplement to salary.

An employee who has been appointed as divison head or equivalent with delegated personnel responsibility, normally directly subordinate to the head of department, can receive a salary supplement of 50 % of the head of department's salary supplement according to table 2. If several division heads have been appointed, a salary supplement of less than 50 % of the head of department's salary supplement can be received, normally at least 25 % of the head of department's salary supplement. In these cases, an assessment must be made of the scope and complexity of the appointment in each individual case.

After completion of the appointment, no conversion of the salary supplement into salary takes place.

Director who reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor

An employee who has been appointed as a director and reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor can receive a salary supplement by special decision. Agreement on conditions for such an appointment must take place in connection with the assumption of the appointment.
