1 The council, board and office
The Saco-S Council represents approximately 3 500 members from 20 independent unions and eight local-local Saco associations. The ordinary annual meeting was held, when the following board was elected for the period 17/18 (the list is available at the Saco-S Council office).
The Board held 17 meetings that were recorded in minutes during the year. These can be read on the Saco-S Council's website (Edit: the recorded minutes from the year 2018 are no longer available on the website). In addition, the Board has held some non-recorded meetings when, above all, matters before the Thursday negotiations were discussed. Regarding the Office, Kirsi Höglund and Anna Eklund have acted as union representatives of 100 % and 50 % respectively for the Saco-S Council.
2 Union trustees
The following persons are on leave without salary deduction for union work to the extent specified below. In brackets, the reduction applied during the previous business year is also given (December 2017 - June 2018). The reduction is reviewed at the beginning of each academic year. In total, Saco currently has a reduction of 685 %.

3 Negotiations
During the business year, negotiations on recruitment, new salaries and notices of dismissal have been handled via the electronic negotiation tool EDGAR. The Saco-S Council's board members individually review cases according to their assigned division and approves or makes claims for current cases. Negotiations on the cases where the staff organisations has claims take place on Thursdays at the University Administration, primarily by the chairperson Per Sundman and the vice chairperson Tina Hedmo.

Saco has submitted a request for a model that only takes into account activity in the doctoral education expressed in time. - Salary review 2018
The Saco-S Council has negotiated the forms and schedule for the salary review for the year 2018. The model for salary-setting discussions has been adjusted slightly. It is Saco members at the University Administration, the Internal Audit, UU Innovation, the National Centre for Knowledge on Men's Violence Against Women and the University Library who have salary-setting discussions and are thus affected by this.

- Labor shortage negotiations that primarily affected researchers whose funds had run out.
- Reorganisations, including Budget documentation for the University, the Division of Contract Education, the Center for Social Work, the Leadership and Organizational Development Office (Swedish: Kompetensforum), CEMUS and the Center for Russian Studies.
- Activity reports for the University centrally as well as for faculties and disciplinary domains
- Salary review 2017 and preparation for the 2018 review
- Dispute negotiations for late notices of dismissal, violation against the Employment (Co-Determination in the Workplace) Act (MBL) and also calculation of working hours

Other activities
- Participation in various bodies at Uppsala University
The Saco-S Council has representatives with the right to attend and with the right to free speech in the University Board as well as the boards of the Disciplinary Domains and in the boards of the Faculties. The Saco-S Council is also represented in the Committee for Gender Equality, Committee for Ethnic and Social Diversity, Committee for Proposals (Swedish: Förslagskommittén), Central Collaboration group, Joint Committee on Work Environment Issues, Staff disciplinary board. During the business year, representatives of the Saco-S Council participated in courses and conferences organised by the The Central Government Social Partners’ Council (Swedish: Partsrådet). - Salary surveys
Uppsala University, like all major workplaces in Sweden, is required to carry out an annual salary survey. During the financial year, the Saco-S Council participated actively in both the 2017 and 2018 salary surveys. - Other surveys
Due to the introduction of salary-setting discussions at the University Library, the Saco-S Council has examined the outcome for members and compared them with those who are not members. The Saco-S Council has also conducted a study of the outcome of the salary review 2017 for researchers. In addition, the Saco-S Council has conducted a minor study of men's and women's path to employment as a professor in the Disciplinary Domain of Science and Technology. - Competence provision
- Tina Hedmo has attended a one-day training, organised by SULF, which dealt with the subject "From lack of funds to dismissal". The training took place on April 4th, 2018 at the SULF office.
- Per Sundman attended the one-day training, organised by SULF at the same time as Tina Hedmo, which dealt with the subject "From lack of funds to dismissal". He has also participated in conferences about agreements.
- Kirsi Höglund has participated in Saco's trainings on Gender Equality (16th of May 2018) and GDPR (14th of September 2018)

- The Saco-S Council's Board has arranged five seminars for members regarding the salary review 2018
- An important part of the Saco-S Council's work consists of giving members advice and support in issues that are important to them. A large part of the issues regards labor law or work environment law. Some of these conversations stop at confidential conversations. A small part is transferred to so-called membership matters where the Saco-S Council is there to support or ultimately negotiate the working conditions for our members.
- The Saco-S Council also provides advice and support in connection with the setting of a new salary and in connection with the salary review.
- The Saco-S Council has sent out eight (8) membership letters since the 2017 annual meeting (December 2017, January 2018, March 2018, April 2018, May 2018, June 2018, August 2018, September 2018) and another ninth letter is planned before the 2018 annual meeting. Membership letters are also available on the Saco-S Council's website. The language in the membership letters is both in Swedish and in English so that our non-Swedish-speaking members also can take part of important information.
- In addition to the membership letters, the Saco-S Council has sent out information about the salary seminars that preceded this year's salary negotiations.
